Registered Nurse

Summary: Immediate need for an one-on-one nurse for the 2026/2027 school year. This student requires a Registered Nurse (RN). The nurse is to be competent in the treating students with the diagnoses below. At a minimum, the RN must be competent with using the Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM), knowledge of reading a Diabetes Medical Management Plan (DMMP) when the student cannot and know how to suction a tracheostomy and what that care entails.

  • Diabetes utilizing a CGM, monitors blood glucose on call phone and eats regular diet.
  • Tracheostomy with speaking valve, breaths room air, oxygen and suction as needed
  • Wheelchair use as needed
  • Other Diagnoses include: Mitochondrial Disorder, Cardiomegaly, Hypotension, Sleep Apnea, Bilateral Temporal Optic Atrophy, Right Esotropia Amblyopia, visual impairments
Rate of Pay: $60-$75 per hour

Essential Job Functions (note this is not an exhaustive list of the duties performed for this position):

  • 8:45am- 2:20pm is the work day. 8:40am the nurse will arrive at the student’s address and ride transportation to and from school.
  • Seven hours per day 
  • Possibility of overtime up to 20 hours per year.
  • Administer prescriptive medications according to physician’s orders
  • Makes referrals to other health care professionals, as required
  • Maintains a medical service record keeping system which complies with all applicable regulations
  • Serves as a resource person to school personnel in health education matters
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office and other computer programs
  • Assist administrators in implementing the policies and procedures of the school to maintain a safe learning environment for the student
  • Maintain student confidentiality
  • Be aware of any school policy and procedures regarding lock downs, fire drills, etc
  • Represent the District and StaffEZ in a professional manner by performing all job functions at a satisfactory or above level.
  • Interact with co-workers, administration, students, parents, and the community in a positive, supportive, and cooperative ways.
  • Performs other related duties, including special projects, as required or requested, consistent with reasonable expectations for the contracted position.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse with a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in public health nursing, community health in public health nursing, school health nursing or pediatric nursing
  • Knowledge of principles and practices underlying professional nursing
  • Knowledge of principles and practices underlying the special field of school health
  • Knowledge of current trends in nursing and of literature in the fields of school health
  • Knowledge of organization and administration of other cooperating agencies
  • Knowledge of state and local laws relating to health and social issues
  • Completion of the required Global Compliance Network training modules
  • Demonstrated record of good attendance and punctuality.
  • Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication.
  • Must meet criminal history background requirements (requires FBI Fingerprint and SOARS clearance)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time
  • Occasional climbing of steps
  • Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels
