The Speech Language Pathologist provides services as an employee of STAFFEZ, serving the district of Birdville ISD, Haltom City, Texas, for a maternity leave for $80.00 per hour.
The responsibilities of a Speech-Language Pathologist are to work in cooperation with appropriate district supervisors, teachers, parents, and students. They shall be responsible for providing diagnostic and intervention services for students with speech, language, and hearing disorders and helping students adjust to and access the general education curriculum.
The maternity leave from mid-October to the end of January. The caseload is around 55 students and includes a large portion of students with autism who have complex communication needs. The SLP also serves gen ed and sped students with artic and language disorders. The therapist needs to be familiar with AAC systems such as LAMP and Touch Chat. The school building will be brand new this year, but the admin, staff, and programs are well established. The therapist would have another SLP on the premises 2-3 days per week for support. The team is known for their excellent support and collaboration with each other as SLPs across the district.

Work Year, Hours & Compensation: Hours vary depending on assignment. Pay $80.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. Employment is from mid-October to the end of January for maternity leave.

Essential Job Functions (note this is not an exhaustive list of duties performed for this position):
- Professionally represent the District and STAFFEZ by performing all job functions at a satisfactory or above level.
- Interact positively, supportively, and cooperatively with co-workers, administration, students, parents, and the community.
- Performs other related duties, including special projects, as required, or requested, consistent with reasonable expectations for the contracted position.
- Assess, screen, and evaluate students and effectively share results with parents and educational staff, and participate in the eligibility determination process in accordance with state and school division requirements and best practices.
- Develop and implement individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with Speech/Language impairment and assists with IEPs for students with speech/language as a service on an annual basis or according to requirements.
- Selects children with communicative disorders for enrollment in therapy according to appropriate criteria and by state and federal guidelines.
- Maintain records and information concerning individual students in the prescribed confidential manner and using the records and information only for the purposes for which they are maintained according to FERPA guidelines.
- Communicate and collaborate with parents and the school community for the purpose of fostering individual student success and growth while engaging the families in the therapy program.
- Participate in various meetings for the purpose of addressing student goals and needs, and to meet laws and policies.
- Coordinates the implementation of goals/outcomes with the IEP team with a provision of continuum of services to students.
- Perform related duties as assigned by the administration in accordance with school district policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Completion of the required Global Compliance Network online training modules
- Demonstrated record of good attendance and punctuality.
- Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must meet criminal history background requirements (requires FBI Fingerprint and SOARS clearance).
- Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology
- Holding appropriate Tennessee certification license
- Demonstrated organizational skills as a School Psychologist
- Effective decision-making and verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in the use of computers including word processing, database, and spreadsheet operations.

provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.

- Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels.
