Job Summary: The Nursing Services worker provides services as an employee of StaffEZ serving the Community Unit School District 300. The nurse is to coordinate a school health program including the delivery of services to students and staff members in order to enhance health and wellness in the school community. Duties are to be performed in accordance with standards of professional school nurse practice, district/state board of education policies and procedures and Illinois State law regarding nurse practice.
Starting Date: Immediate until filled.
Work Year, Hours & Compensation: Hours vary depending on assignment. Pay per hour depending on qualifications and experience. 180 days per year.
FSLA: Non-exempt.
Essential Job Functions:

- Represent the district and StaffEZ in a professional manner by performing all job functions at a satisfactory or above level.
- Interact with co-workers, administration, students, parents, and the community in a positive supportive, and cooperative way.
- Performs other related duties, including special projects, as required, or requested, consistent with reasonable expectations for the contracted position
- Provide direct professional nursing services, first aid, illness, and emergency care to students and staff including nursing assessment, identifying health problems, making referrals for diagnosis and treatment, recommending educational modifications, providing follow-up and evaluation, and maintaining appropriate documentation.
- Develops a medication protocol to safely store, administer, document, and monitor the effectiveness of medication given at school.
- Provides screening and follow-up for deficits in.
- Maintains accurate medical records to assure compliance with state mandates including immunizations, physical examinations, and medical conditions
- Participates as crisis team member and provides crisis intervention for students and staff in the advent of sudden illness or injury.
- Makes appropriate assessments and referrals for suspected abuse/neglect as a mandated reporter.
- Provides staff in service programs on health topics including blood borne pathogens and the district exposure control plan.
- Maintains communication with administrators, teachers, other school personnel, and parents/guardians to enhance cooperative action, which will meet the health and safety needs of students.
- Initiates contact with and acts as a liaison between the home, school, community health agencies and the private medical sector to enhance the health and wellness of the school community.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding all school and health-related issues
- Participates as a member of the multidisciplinary team in the identification, evaluation, and placement of students into special education programs. Writes the health component of the Individual Education Plan as indicated.
- Develops and maintains current health care plans for students who need special nursing interventions during the school day.
Qualifications:
- Register Nurse licensure, Illinois with Illinois ISBE Professional Educator License (PEL) – School Nurse endorsement.
- Current Healthcare Provided CPR/AED certification.
- Illinois State Board of Education licensure (school nurse).
- Illinois certification as a Vison and Hearing Screening technician preferred.
- Prior professional nursing experience, preferably; pediatric, adolescent, community or mental health nursing, and health program management.
- Excellent clinical and assessment skills.
- Completion of the required Global Compliance Network online training modules.
- Demonstrated record of good attendance and punctuality.
- Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication.
- Must meet criminal history background requirements (requires FBI Fingerprint and/or drug test).

Physical Requirements: Heavy Work: Exerts up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, end/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects.
